First of all we have to define
what a child with Asperger´s syndrome. This kids present some characteristics
as that they are interested in every topic and he is able, in a quick way, to
select information and graphics about any topic, they are kids with little
social contact, they prefer to play alone rather than with other people,
sometimes they get better with adult people than with the other kid, they have
a peculiar sense of humour, they have poor motor coordination, they don’t catch
the irony and the jokes…
So, what can we do when we
have an Asperger´s syndrome child in class?
The first thing will be that
when you talk with them, you do it in a calm way, we have to explain then, in a
very detail way, what they have to do in order to make them catch the
information.
We also have to help them to
manage their own emotions and how to control them. As well we will have to show
them how to act in different situations that can be difficult or hard to front
them. Another thing will be to teach them how to relax when they front a
difficult situation and they fill that they cannot do it, so they stop and try
to relax so then they can try to front it again.
We will have to help them to
make friends by teaching them how to do it, and how to act in the different
situations that a social relationship can have, so with this they will know how
to respond or how to act with other people and little by little they will try
to be friends. Them, if we see that they try to get close to someone and they
cannot do it, its better that we make them focus in another thing and start
doing some activity or something.
The last thing will be to talk will his/her partners in a way that the understand that eventhoung he has some troubles to make friends, that doesn´t mean that he or she is not a wonderfull person with a lot of things to offer when you get close to them.
