Hello! Our group is “Modern Students”! We chose this name after discovering the things we had in common. The members of this group are different but all of us liked TV serial, especially Modern Family and we´re studying teaching training, so this is the reason of our name. We have created this blog to post here all the things that we are going to do in the subject “Institutional Organization”.

Our logo is the same as the serial but we have written “Students” instead of “Family”.

We hope you enjoy this blog!

Asperger syndrome reflection

Asperger Syndrome

Asperger syndrome is a form of autism, which is a lifelong disability. It affects how a person makes sense of the world, processes information and relates to other people. Also it is mostly a 'hidden disability'. This means that you can't tell that someone has the condition from their outward appearance. People with the condition have difficulties in three main areas. This are: social communication, social interaction and social imagination. People with Asperger syndrome sometimes find it difficult to express themselves emotionally and socially.

When we talk about inclusion in school we also have to think about disabilities like that. The idea behind an inclusive school is that all students, doesn’t matter if without or with physical or cognitive disabilities, learn together. It is important that teachers have the consciousness about the huge diversity in one class. But only to know doesn’t mean that the teacher knows how to handle this situation. Especially the contact with kids with asperger syndrome needs a specific commerce. That’s why teachers need advanced education, because at university (at least in Germany) they don’t teach things like that. Teachers have to learn how to interact with kids who have this or another disability. Of course it is also challenging for teacher to treat every student individual but I think that is necessary. Kids with asperger syndrome are maybe different but not less value than other kids.
